Well hello there 2018!

My long lost Blog.. oh how I've missed you! It sure has been a while.... but here we are!

Happy New Year to all of my loyal VIP'ers! And what a year to be happy! Have you set yourself some resolutions or goals? Perhaps you plan to travel this year, start a new hobby, spend more time with friends, or learn to cook? Whatever your desires are for 2018, I wish you all the best!!

2017 was a massive year for me, professionally. Lots of challenges, and lots of firsts, which is so refreshing and rewarding! My word at the beginning of 2017 was "opportunity". At the end of 2017, I felt I did that word justice. Opportunities came a knockin', and I answered the freakin door! I also chased opportunities (aka.. did the knockin') and doors were open. I had a little taste of what long-term goal achievement feels like. But at the same time, I had an epiphany. I brought myself back to my roots, and realised the reason I started this game in the first place. It's funny how these things happen, when you need them to most!

So after a mammoth, goal-chasing year, I have decided to switch my focus, and put my time, effort, passion and energy into another word. LOCAL. You, my local supporters, have been my constants. In a digital world of transient followers, its you, my local tribe, that have stood by my work, thick and thin. And you know what I realised? I more often than not, cannot put a face to the wonderful names that purchase my Brand. And that bothers me. It bothers me a lot. Areli is my heart. It is everything I stand for, it is my sweat and tears (quite literally), it is my masterpiece, it is my left side brain transferred to fabric, it is my personal style, it is ME. I feel vulnerable at times sharing ME in my work, but that is what keeps it so authentic. So when women from my local community support Areli and represent my brand, you have no idea what a compliment that is. So this year, I have decided to have more of a local presence, so that I can start putting faces to names.

I have been brainstorming with my family and friends, on ways I can achieve this, and have been coming up with some interesting new ideas. I am very excited about meeting more of my 4680 ladies, and spreading the Areli love, and hopefully develop some new relationships in the process.

So here is to a new year! A new year full of organic growth, authentic relationships, and honest experiences.

Rikki-Lee xoxo
